We have one extra bedroom in our home and it currently serves double duty as a craft room and a guest room. We built a murphy bed so the craft room space wasn’t being taken up too much by bed that is only used a few times a year. Since the room is multi-functional our flush mounted television wasn’t going to work and we knew we needed something else for this space. We figured out the best mount for our space HERE. In addition the good folks at SANUS had our back and provides a MountFinder tool to determine the correct mount for our TV. Which in our case was this SANUS Full-motion mount.
The work station we constructed for projects is countertop height so the TV needed to be mounted higher than average height of 42″ from the floor to center of the television. I was able to use the SANUS HeightFinder tool to determine the best location for viewing from both the workstation and the bed. Gotta keep our guest happy too right?
I’ll get into the installation now, but if you want to jump ahead you can scroll down to see the video on easy installation that Matt put together.
Matt started by removing the television from the wall and the manufacturers stationary mount. (not to mention unattractive)
Locate and mark the stud.Measure and mark the desired height for the TV.
Place the full motion mount on the wall, check for level, and mark the holes.
Pre-drill the holes for the bolts that will hold the full motion mount to the wall.
Tighten the mount to the wall, making sure to check for level before finally tightening down the mount.
Once the mount is securely installed attach the TV to the mount using the proper option provided in the manual.
In case you missed any steps, here’s a recap.
Having the television securely mounted to the wall not only frees up space on the work surface and it is also safe. I can work on projects with my young children in the room without any fear of them pulling the over on them. Which is huge, I’m sure you agree.
With the television secure to the wall it was time to get started on the gallery wall, which will be a work in progress. I would like to add art made by our children over the years. Including this “water lily” from my oldest.
Custom rainbow honeycomb art, that was so much fun to make. (I will be showing you how to make your own in a few weeks.)
And of course I had to include the leaf paint brush painting Joss and I made a few months ago.
I can’t wait to fill up the walls with art my kids have created. I know our guest will love that too.
If you are looking for a quick easy installation of a wall mounted TV then SANUS has you covered. From their MountFinder tool to the HeightFinder app (aka sanity saver) we can promise you will be pleased with their products and ease of installation. In fact this is the 2nd mount of theirs we have in our home. The first was installed a few years ago in our family room, which is perfect for family movie night on the floor.
