Over the last few months, I’ve been adding some smart technology into our home. There are so many new products out that offer a more convenient and effective way to manage your household. Most recently, I added the Rachio IRO Irrigation Controller, so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share my thoughts on it so far!
First off, for those of you how might not be familiar with the IRO, it is a smart irrigation controller. Once it’s connected to your home’s wi-fi, you’re able to manage your entire irrigation system from just about any smart device.
Here’s a quick look at how easy the installation and setup can be!
And here’s what really impresses me about the IRO!
Ease of Use- I really like it’s app interface. It’s SUPER user friendly. Setting up the system for the first time proved to be a lot easier than I anticipated. Adding zones is a breeze. You’re asked a few questions to help the controller understand each zones needs, like what are you watering and what type of sprinkler heads are you using.
Water Consumption- It cuts down on my water usage. The IRO is designed to automatically adjust my water usage based on changes to the weather and time of year. With my old controller, I didn’t have a rain sensor installed, so if the forecast called for rain, I could manually turn off the controller or if I wasn’t home, I didn’t have a choice, my yard got watered in addition to the rain.
Remote Access- I can easily make changes to my watering schedule from anywhere. If it’s been an abnormally hot week and I feel like my plants or lawn need some extra love, I can hop on the Rachio app and choose to add another scheduled watering, or I can manually run a few zones just for that day.
Log History- I like having a activity tracker that records when the system actually runs or not. Most homeowners have their systems set to run before they get up in the morning, and in some instances, it can be difficult to tell whether a system has ran or not. So being able to keep a running history is a nice perk.
Maintenance Made Easy- And lastly, having the ability to move zone to zone making adjustments to each head without having to travel back and forth to the controller will come in really handy at the beginning of each season!
Adding the Rachio IRO Controller to our cache of smart products was definitely a “smart” move! (Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!) In all sincerity, I’m really impressed by the IRO and will make sure to update this post as I find even more ways that it makes my life easier!
