For Christmas this past year I decided I wanted to make signs for my dear friend Stephanie based on some things I had seen her Pin on Pinterest . One of which were these adorable Longitude and Latitude signs. I commissioned the help of my favorite vinyl guy (Matt) and asked him if he could help me make her some of these signs to show all the cities her and her husband had lived in. While we were at it I decided I wanted to make a set for my mother as well.
They turned out FABULOUS, almost made me wish Matt and I had lived in multiple cities! We had a few issues with the vinyl removing too much paint because of the primer we used and cold temperatures but were able to salvage 4 of the 6. Later on Matt made the other two for Stephanie. If you need a more detailed description of how we made these signs check out our Distressed Santa Artwork post, we used the same steps shown there.
These beauties are now hanging in Stephanie’s home.
Hopefully I can persuade her to send me a picture to post on here of how she hung them.
And these three were for my parents who met while attending college at
Pittsburg State University in Kansas.
LOVE these!
This may have not been one of our more complicated projects but I will fully admit it was the most rewarding one! I was lucky enough to present the one completed sign to Stephanie on Christmas Eve standing in the IHOP parking lot. I knew she would be excited but nothing can ever take away the feeling of watching your best friend be moved to tears because she loves her gift so much. Yup, I would say that this is what’s most rewarding about making things with your own two hands!

These ARE adorable! I'm thinking about doing a set for my parents after seeing yours. I hope mine turn out as well as yours did.

Thank you! We might just have to do one with the favorite cities we have visited together instead of what cities we've lived. Mine wouldn't be very exciting since I have only lived in one city hahaha

These look great! I, too, am a Gorilla Pittsburg State alum! My husband and I were college sweethearts and I we currently live in England with the military. Thanks for sharing – found it through a “share” on Pinterest. What a wonderful tool to realize how small our world is!

These are fabulous. I have a dumb question though. How do you know the coordinates are North or South or East, West?
Jacque says
Latitude lines are a numerical way to measure how far north or south of the equator a place is located. They are given as __ degrees North or __ degrees South. Longitude lines are a numerical way to show/measure how far a location is east or west of a universal vertical line called the Prime Meridian. They are given as __ degrees east or __ degrees west. And I only know what they are because I looked them up, haha 😉
